In a word, Vigie beach is relaxing. It’s an ideal place for chilling out and doing some watersports. There are no big hotels around so there aren’t a lot of tourists either; this means it’s peaceful and quiet! The water at Vigie beach is clear and clean as well (although there can be seaweed sometimes). You’ll also find plenty of places to eat or grab a drink nearby.
Review of Vigie beach, St.Lucia, Caribbean
Vigie beach is a nice place to chill out, do some watersports and have a drink. The water is warm and the sand is wonderfully soft. You can also get food at this beach bar (which serves BBQ chicken).
Vigie beach is located on the southern coast of St.Lucia, near Rodney Bay.
The beach is not very big, but it’s a great place to hang out and relax. The water is warm and the sand is soft. You can also rent jet skis here or do some watersports.
The beach
Vigie beach is a stunning long stretch of white sand and sparkling water. The beach is well-maintained, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available, as well as clean restrooms. The sand is soft and fine, and the water clear enough to see the bottom even at low tide.
The water
The water at Vigie beach is shallow and very warm. You can walk out quite far and there are some reef areas where you can go snorkeling if you want to see some fish. I didn’t see any sharks, but saw a few stingrays in the water.
The water was clear and clean. The beach is wide, but there are some rocks in the water that can be a bit of an obstacle if you don’t watch out for them. There were lots of people on the beach and it was easy to find a spot to set up your towel or umbrella. It’s a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, so you can expect it to be busy during the summer months. The water temperature is usually quite warm—in fact, it’s often quite hot in August due to the hot air mass that builds over Caribbean each year.
Food and drinks
The food on the island is great, and there are many restaurants to choose from. You can also get excellent local cuisine at most of the bars and pubs. Some of the top places to eat include:
- The Lime Lounge (Great for breakfast)
- Chateau Bordeaux (French Cuisine)
- Vigie Beach Bar & Grill (American Food)
If you don’t want to go out in search of a restaurant, there are several food vendors who set up stalls along the beach. These offer some truly amazing meals, including jerk chicken and other local favorites like conch salad. Or if you just want something quick like a burger or pizza that’s available 24/7 at most places too! The drinks are also great on St. Lucia. There are so many different options available that it’s easy find one that suits your taste buds perfectly! Or you can try Anse Castanet beach, which is close.
Parking
Parking is available on the street, or in the parking lot.
The parking lot is small and will fill up quickly during peak season (December through April). There are no parking spaces for people with disabilities, so if you have a disability and plan to visit Vigie beach, you should consider the possibility of not being able to park your car there.
Shopping
The resort is small, so there are no big stores. There are no souvenir shops, bars or nightclubs. In fact, there is no nightlife at all!
There are only two restaurants, both of which are very good. The food is fresh and delicious. The beach is small but beautiful. It’s not crowded at all, even though there were quite a few people staying at the resort while we were there. The water was clear and warm – perfect for swimming. Maybe better place to eat is Reduit beach.
“Vigie beach is a beautiful place to relax and do some watersports. It’s peaceful and quiet, with no big hotels surrounding it, so tourists won’t find this place hectic! The water at Vigie beach is clear, clean and ideal for swimming in. You can grab a drink or a meal nearby too.”

Tourist activities
Some tourist activities you can do while at Vigie beach:
- Snorkeling. If you want to experience the underwater world without having to be a pro scuba diver, snorkeling is a great option. It’s also a very popular tourist activity here in St. Lucia, so there are plenty of tour operators who offer this service for reasonable prices (you can expect to pay around $80 per person).
- Windsurfing/kitesurfing. Both windsurfing and kitesurfing are becoming more and more popular each year on the island of St Lucia, but they aren’t exactly cheap sports to participate in—the equipment alone is hugely expensive! However there are some good deals if you want to try them out without breaking the bank; one tour operator I found online was offering lessons for as little as $40 per hour! When I visited them though they were fully booked so unfortunately I couldn’t get any firsthand experience with these two sports myself…maybe next time?
- One of the popular activity is running on Vigie beach

Vigie beach is a great place to chill out
Vigie beach is a great place to chill out, do some watersports, and have a drink. The beach is located on the Atlantic side of St. Lucia, which means it has cooler water than other beaches in the Caribbean. You can get lunch or dinner here and enjoy some seafood dishes if you want something different from the usual burgers and fries. The beach also offers umbrella-covered tables for those who want to sit under shade while they eat their meal. More info you can get on Google review.
You might try doing some kite surfing or windsurfing if you’re feeling adventurous; these activities are popular on this part of Saint Lucia because there are consistent winds blowing across the water at all times throughout the year (the Pitons help boost those winds). If you’re not into sports but still want to see something spectacular then head over toward Mount Gimie where there are many lookouts that give panoramic views over much of Vigie Bay as well as out towards neighboring islands such as Martinique and Barbados!
Conclusion
Overall, Vigie beach is a great place to chill out, do some watersports, and have a drink. It’s not the most glamorous beach in the world but it has everything you need for a fun day at sea. If you’re looking for something more luxurious in St Lucia then you should check out Rodney Bay instead!
