FAQ
What’s the beach like?
It’s quite small, but it has a distinct character. There are no facilities, so you have to bring your own food and drinks. The sand is very soft and fine, which makes it ideal for playing in or simply relaxing on (especially if you’ve got a book or magazine). You can walk down the beach to see where the waves are breaking best, but as long as you keep well clear of them when they come in, this is safe enough.
Is there parking available at Ansteys Beach?
Yes – parking here is limited though. Some people park their cars along the road that runs between Ansteys Beach and Umhlanga Rocks area; other drivers park on private property nearby; however most visitors leave their cars at one of several car parks located near the entrance gate leading into Durban’s uShaka Marine World theme park which is within walking distance from Ansteys Beach so public transport isn’t really necessary unless you want to avoid paying for parking at uShaka Marine World itself! If using public transport then make sure to check out our bus routes page first before leaving home because most buses don’t serve this area directly so instead will make drop off points up until about 100m away from its entrance gate leading into Durban’s uShaka Marine World theme park which should take less than 15 minutes worth walking distance away from Ansteys Beach!!

Ansteys Beach is a great swimming beach with a tidal pool
If you’re looking for a great swimming beach with a tidal pool, Ansteys Beach is the place to go. It has no lifeguards and no facilities, but it is located in an area where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. The snorkeling here is also good—we saw lots of fish and even some turtles!
However, if you want to swim in calm waters without waves or currents then this may not be the best choice as there can be rip currents during summer months (December through February) due to strong winds blowing off nearby mountains which push water towards beaches causing waves that make it unsafe for swimming at times.
Parking
Parking is available at the beach, but it is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. There are no designated parking spots and there is no security or monitoring of vehicles left in this area.
There are no trash cans, so please pack out whatever you bring. There is no running water or bathrooms at the beach; however there are restrooms located about a mile away at the pierThe beach itself is beautiful and the water is clear and warm. There are some rocks along the shoreline, but they’re not too big—so you can walk around them easily enough. The sand here is also soft and very nice to walk on!
The beach is well maintained by the city
Ansteys Beach is a very well maintained beach and the city does a great job of maintaining it. The sand is soft, there are always chairs available for rent if you want them (which we didn’t), and there are showers with running water at both ends of the beach.
The water here was also clear enough that we could see our feet while swimming! If you have children who love to swim in the ocean but can’t see their feet when they dip below the surface, this is a great place for them to play safely without any worries about being stung by jellyfish or stepping on something sharp.
The fishing on Ansteys Beach is some of the best in South Africa
The fishing on Ansteys Beach is some of the best in South Africa. The beach stretches for nearly five kilometers and the water is calm and clear, making it a great place to cast out your line and see what you can catch. If you’re looking for something specific to catch, try asking at one of the local fishing shops about what’s currently running through their nets. You’ll be able to find out if there are any large schools of fish around that day; this will help you decide where exactly to go with your boat so as not to miss out on anything good. Reccomend to visit Umhlanga Beach.
If you want tips on how best to reel them in or what kind of bait works best, ask one of these friendly experts when they open up shop each morning—they’ll be happy to answer all your questions!
There is plenty of parking at Ansteys Beach but it does fill up during holiday periods
- Parking is free, but limited to 2 hours.
- The parking lot is right next to Ansteys Beach, which is a short walk from the beach.
- You can park here day or night, but you should make sure you don’t stay longer than 2 hours!
The best time to go is early in the morning or late in the evening. This way you can enjoy the beach without as many people around. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops nearby if you want to grab a bite or something cool to drink before heading back home.
Ansteys Beach Aqua park
Ansteys Beach Aqua park is a great place to spend a day with the family. It’s ideal for everyone from young children to grandparents, and there are plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. There is also a wide range of food available at the Ansteys Beach facility. Whether you’re looking for an ice cream or something more filling like pizza, they have it all!
The Aqua park is an ideal place for the whole family to have fun in the sun. My kids love going on rides like The Slide where they can go down on their stomachs or on their backs with their arms outstretched in front of them—it’s so much fun! There’s also another ride called The Lazy River which carries your tube around as if you were floating down stream without having any trouble paddling yourself forward by yourself (this saves energy). In addition there are two wave machines which allow waves onto land so when it gets too hot out there on one side of Ansteys Beach then people can move over toward these areas instead where it’ll be cooler yet still sunny enough outside during summer months.”
The best part is that there are lifeguards everywhere at Ansteys Beach, so if you ever feel like your kids are getting into trouble then just call out to one of them and they’ll come over.
Ansteys Beach is an unspoilt beach along the Durban coast
Ansteys Beach is a great swimming beach with a tidal pool. The fishing on Ansteys is some of the best in South Africa, especially for bream, kob and whiting. There are toilets and showers at this beach same like on Amanzimtoti Beach.
The parking area fills up during holiday periods but there are usually enough spaces to park along the roadside (if you’re not blocking anyone). More info you can get on Google review.
Conclusion
Ansteys Beach is a great place to go for a swim and it’s located right on the beach. The water is clean and there are plenty of facilities nearby so you can rest easy knowing your family will be safe while they play in this beautiful part of Durban in Africa.
