Parking is also available next door at Jade Mountain Resorts’ Grand Cul de Sac location (which has its own hikeable path down to their private beach) but it can get crowded when Jade Mountain reaches capacity during peak times so make sure you don’t plan on using this as an option unless necessary! I like the sand here. It’s soft and fine, not coarse like some beaches I’ve been to. The color is light brown, but that may be due more to volcanic ash than anything else.
The water is very clear and when I stick my hand in, it feels warm. There’s hardly any big waves and the water is calm enough that it doesn’t feel like you’re going to drown if you fall in. But there are a few riptides that pull you out into deeper waters so be careful!
Sand/Shingle Quality
The sand is soft and white, with just the right amount of grit for the perfect amount of friction. It’s not too rocky and it’s not muddy or filled with seaweed. The beach itself is not crowded at all – you’ll have plenty of room to spread out and relax in peace. In fact, this may be one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to in terms of sand quality!

The resort does offer several activities for people who prefer not to be active all day. They include yoga classes and Zumba classes by the pool, but these are only complimentary during certain times of day (you’ll have to check with your concierge when booking). There is also an excursion desk located at reception where you can book trips around St Lucia as well as other nearby islands like Martinique and Guadaloupe.

Overall, I would rate this beach a 7. The main reason is because of the limited parking at Anse Chastanet Beach. The lack of parking is an inconvenience for guests who don’t want to walk from the hotel or ride a bus to get there. However, if you are willing to tolerate a little bit of inconvenience then you will find that this beach has several things going for it:
- It’s not crowded (like other beaches in St. Lucia)
- It’s clean and accessible by car or by bus
- The water is crystal clear and there are no rocks underfoot as you walk along the shoreline

Pros & Cons of Anse Chastanet Beach
Pros:
- The beach is beautiful and secluded, with a great view of the Pitons.
- There are plenty of lounge chairs on the sand and shady trees to provide relief from the sun.
- There’s a bar right on the beach serving up drinks and food such as burgers, sandwiches, and salads.
Cons:
- The water can be rough at times. If you’re not a good swimmer or have kids with you who aren’t great swimmers, stick to waist deep water away from shore (there are lifeguards). If you do go into deeper water, make sure your valuables are secure inside your room so they don’t get stolen by thieves lurking offshore waiting for an opportunity like this one!

Anse Chastanet is a nice beach but it has limited parking
If you decide to visit Anse Chastanet Beach and do not wish to pay the $20 per car to park at the resort, you can park on the road. This is free but there are 6 signs saying “no parking” before and after this section of road. We ignored them all, parked on the side of a small dirt track that goes nowhere else, then carefully walked our stuff down towards the beach from there. More info you can get on Google review.
It’s about a 10 minute walk away from where we parked in my opinion. This isn’t ideal if your suitcase is heavy or if you have little kids with you who don’t want to walk up hills (we had both). Once at the beach though it was definitely worth it!
Conclusion
