Laura beach

For the most part, I was pleased with my stay at the Laura Beach in Marshall Islands. The location is beautiful and it’s easy to get to from Majuro Airport. There’s also plenty of good food nearby if you don’t want to eat at the resort.

FAQ

How far is it to get to Laura beach?

It’s about a 30minutes boat ride from Majuro, which is the capital of the Marshall Islands. The boat will either be an open-air dinghy or a speedboat depending on how many people are taking it and what kind of weather you’re expecting. If you want to make sure that your trip goes smoothly, we recommend booking with one of the local tour operators in Majuro who know exactly what they’re doing and can help you out if anything goes wrong on your trip!

What time of year should I go?

Laura Beach has some pretty extreme weather conditions so we recommend visiting during summertime (December through February) for its warm temperatures and calm waters; however if this isn’t possible then just make sure not to go during rainy season (April through September). The best thing about visiting during these months though? You’ll likely have almost all four seasons rolled into one!

The Majuro island has palm trees

The beach is clean and clear, with palm trees and a nice view. It’s a great place to snorkel, or fish if that’s more your thing.

The water is really clear and there are plenty of fish to see. The beach itself is beautiful and very clean. It’s a great place to go snorkeling, swimming or fishing.

Snorkeling

One of the best things about snorkeling in Laura Beach is that you can see so many different types of fish. There are big ones, small ones, and even some really tiny ones. You’ll also see turtles and rays swimming around. And if you’re lucky enough to be there when there’s a full moon or new moon (or both), sharks will come out from hiding!

There are little fish everywhere

The water is so clear that you can see the fish from standing in waist deep water. There are little fish everywhere, you can even see them from standing in waist deep water!

If you want to see the fish, then you will have to get into the water. I mean, really get into the water. The best way is to walk out until it is waist deep and just stand there. Within a few minutes, little fish will start coming up to you and swimming around your legs.

You can see Turtles

Laura Beach is a great place to see turtles. The beaches are protected by law, so you can relax and enjoy the view without worrying about disturbing them. However, it’s important to keep your distance as these animals are endangered and their habitat must be respected.

Turtles have been known to bite if scared or threatened (they won’t bite unless they feel threatened). They move slowly on land and in water–so it’s easy enough just to avoid them altogether!

Fishing at Laura beach

You can fish from shore, or rent a boat to go further out. Bring your own gear, or rent it on the island.

  • You can fish for tuna and snapper, as well as other fish like barracuda and grouper.
  • You can also try shellfish like scallops and clams that grow in the sand at Laura beach (but remember not to take them home).

There are plenty of places to snorkel, but one of the best is just off the beach at Laura. It’s mostly shallow water with lots of coral and fish, and there are many spots where you can walk out from shore without getting too deep (about five feet).

great place to go for a day visit

Laura Beach is a great place to go for a day visit, or to stay for a couple of days and snorkel/fish.

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen! It’s easy to do in the Marshall Islands because they have SPF 100+ sunscreens that are cheap and easy to find in stores. I bought one from Walmart before my trip, but you can also find them at most grocery stores or pharmacies on Majuro (the capital island).
  • Don’t forget your camera! Most people go here specifically for its beauty so it’s worth bringing along some equipment so you can capture those memories forever! There are several places where you can rent cameras if needed as well; just ask around town or check out one of those shops near Laura Beach itself (there seemed like there were several). More info you can get on Google review.
