The Morne Rouge beach is located about 30 minutes from the airport in Grenada. It’s a popular tourist destination and a great place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.

The water is nice and clear, and the sand is white. There are plenty of shady trees to sit under if you get too hot. It’s also one of the best places in Grenada to spot sea turtles! If you’re lucky enough to visit during turtle nesting season (May-October), you can help protect this endangered species by staying away from their nests.

FAQ

Can you swim at Morne Rouge Beach?

Yes, but there are some caveats. The water is quite shallow and the waves can be rough, so it’s better for wading than swimming. If you want to go deep and have a good time in the waves, this isn’t your beach. But if you want to sit on the white sand with your toes in crystal clear water (and possibly see some fish), then yes–you can swim here!

What are some good restaurants nearby?

There aren’t any restaurants within walking distance from Morne Rouge Beach itself; however, there are several options nearby that will deliver food directly to your hotel room or villa if desired (no delivery fee). We recommend checking out Rocky’s Beach Bar. It has great seafood dishes and unique cocktails that are worth trying! You may also want try Kalinago beach resort which serves local food made with ingredients grown right here on Grenada Island itself – very tasty stuff!

Pros & Cons of Morne Rouge beach

Pros:

  • The beach is beautiful, and the water is clear and calm.
  • There are lots of shells to be found in the sand.

Cons:

  • It’s not easy to get there unless you have a car or motorcycle. I recommend renting one for at least part of your trip if you want to explore more than just Grand Anse Beach, as it’s much closer than any other beaches nearby!

There are two ways to get to Morne Rouge beach

relax time at Morne Rouge Beach
relax time at Morne Rouge Beach

The first is by boat ride from the town of Gouyave, and the second is by driving yourself down directly from the airport in Grenada.

If you choose to drive yourself, please be aware that there are no direct roads from one side of this island nation to another; you must take one route through all three islands (St. George’s/Carriacou/Grenada) before reaching your desired destination on Grande Anse beach or any other part of Grenada’s southern coastlands. This means it will take some time for those who prefer their own wheels over taxis or buses–but if nothing else, it gives visitors an opportunity for sightseeing along their journey! Nice view is on Magazine beach also.

We take a boat to get there

We chose to take a boat ride from the town of Gouyave, which was an easy and fun way to get there. The cost was US$20/person roundtrip, and it only took about 25 minutes by boat from Gouyave (a short drive from St George’s) to Morne Rouge Beach.

We had a great time at the beach and would definitely recommend it! The water was warm and clear, there were plenty of lounge chairs available (no need to bring your own), there was a bar where you could get drinks and snacks, and there were bathrooms with showers as well as changing rooms. Similar services are on Bathway beach.

The boat ride only took about 25 minutes and cost US$20/person roundtrip. The boats are small but comfortable, with space for maybe 10-15 people in total.

The boat ride itself was beautiful. You can see the entire bay from above, and there are many other boats in the water as well. The sunsets in Boracay were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen – don’t miss out on one! After returning to White Beach, we went back to our hotel room for a quick shower before heading out again.

Your other option is take car

You can also drive yourself down directly from the airport in Grenada. The drive will take about 30 minutes and should cost around US$30/person for a taxi. If you have your own car, this is an excellent option!

The only downside of driving yourself is that if there are other people who are going on vacation with you at the same time, then they’ll have to wait until everyone arrives before they can leave together–so it’s best not to plan this if everyone isn’t arriving at once (like my family did).

Hills surround Morne Rouge beach

Morne Rouge Beach is surrounded by hills, so you can hike up to the top of these hills and get a great view of the ocean. There are also lots of trees on the beach, which is nice because it provides shade from the sun. The beach itself doesn’t get very crowded at all, which makes it easy to find your own space in the sand!

The beach is also very clean and well maintained, so you don’t have to worry about stepping on anything nasty. There are lots of restaurants nearby that serve great food, and there is a grocery store right across the street from them. You can also rent bikes or scooters at the beach and explore the island!

Nice view from appartments on the Morne Rouge beach

The view from these appartments is better than you can imagine. The view is beautiful, and it’s hard to believe that such a great place exists in Grenada.

The appartments are very nice, too. They have everything you need: comfortable beds, hot water (not always the case in Grenada), good wifi connection (also not always the case). Finally, they offer an amazing view of Morne Rouge beach!

The only thing I would say is that the appartments are not very well isolated from outside noise. If you can get used to it, then you’re set!

The owners of the place are very nice and make you feel at home. They are not intrusive at all, which is great if you want to be alone (and in Grenada, I think we’re all used to sharing a house with other people).

Great location

Finally, the location of this place is perfect. It’s close to everything: restaurants, supermarket and other shops are just a few steps away. You can walk around in Morne Rouge without getting lost or feeling unsafe (this is not always the case in Grenada).

Morne Rouge Beach is a great place for some peace and quiet, or even for an adventure! There are many things to do here, such as snorkeling and kayaking. The water is crystal clear and there are lots of fish to see. You can also hire a local guide who will take you on a hike up Morne Rouge Mountain if that sounds like something you’d enjoy doing!

The appartments have views over the sea from their balconies which makes them very special indeed! More info you can get on Google review.

Conclusion

Morne Rouge is a great place to get away from it all. The beach is beautiful, the water is warm and clear, there are lots of activities available nearby (like snorkeling), and there’s even an appartment building that overlooks the entire area! We really enjoyed our visit here–and we think you will too.
