Playa Linda is located in Puntarenas region, which is a province of Costa Rica. The province lies on the Pacific coast and it’s one of the most developed areas in Costa Rica.
The province has a population of over 205,000 people. The capital is Puntarenas and the other two main cities are Caldera and Alajuela.
Parking
Parking is available in a lot. Parking is free, paid, and the lot can be found on the right side of the hotel’s entrance (as you’re facing it).
The lot is small and can fill up quickly, especially on weekends. If you’re planning to visit the Waldorf Astoria during peak times, we recommend getting there early to snag a spot. Its same like on Playa Hermosa.
ASVPA Matapalo Sea Turtle Conservation
If you’re looking to see some sea turtles while staying at Playa Linda, I highly recommend ASVPA Matapalo Sea Turtle Conservation. It is located at the end of the beach and has a great program where they release rehabilitated sea turtles back into their natural habitat.
I had an opportunity to take part in one of these releases with my family during our stay here at Playa Linda and it was truly an amazing experience!

Whales are very large mammals that live in the ocean. They are also very smart and have blubber (fat) underneath their skin to keep them warm when it’s cold or hot outside. The reason why whales need so much fat is because they spend most of their life swimming around in water which isn’t always warm enough for humans or other land animals like ourselves! That’s why we don’t go swimming with them; instead we watch from boats instead because it’s safer there than on land where predators may attack us if we aren’t careful enough about what we do near these amazing creatures called “whales”. If you’re into sea turtles, then this is the place to be! In fact, ASVPA Matapalo Sea Turtle Conservation (Association for the Sustainable Development of Puntarenas) has been working hard to protect these animals since 2004 when they started their research project here at Playa Linda. Their goal is to help rehabilitate injured turtles and release them back into their natural habitat as soon as possible so that they don’t have any problems adapting back into their environment again–and it seems like they’ve been doing pretty well so far!
Monkeys are everywhere
They’re not dangerous, but they will take food from you if you offer it to them and they won’t hesitate to steal your belongings if left unattended. As tempting as it may be to feed or touch the monkeys in Playa Linda, please don’t–they’re wild animals and could bite or scratch if provoked!

The waterfall is a short walk from Playa Linda, but it’s well worth the trip. You can swim in the waterfall and even go diving on it! This is one of my favorite things to do when I’m there. The water is so clear that you can see all kinds of fish swimming around you as you dive deep into their world. You’ll find many different kinds of coral growing along the walls of this beautiful natural pool that looks like something out of an underwater movie set!
It’s also fun to go rafting down this powerful force of nature together with friends or family members while standing up on an inflatable tube holding onto ropes attached at each end so no one falls off into dangerous areas where strong currents might pull them away if they weren’t careful enough about where they were going next time around before setting off down stream towards another bend ahead where everyone will hopefully meet up again later once everyone has finished having fun splashing around.
