FAQ

How do I get there?

Getting to Ngapali Beach is easy, as you can fly into Myanmar’s capital city of Yangon and travel by bus or taxi to Barma.

What should I do while there?

Hire a scooter and drive around the coast, stopping at all the beaches in between (like Ngwe Kyar Yan). Also don’t miss out on climbing Mount Zwegabin or seeing Rakhine villages. If you want to go in with a tour group and have someone else plan it all out, that’s fine too!

How long should I stay?

We stayed for two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer! At least two weeks will give you enough time to relax on the beach but also experience some of Myanmar’s other attractions like Yangon or Mandalay. You might also want to consider transferring your trip from Barma back overland into Thailand via Chiang Rai if that is an option for your return flight home (this would significantly reduce transportation costs).

It’s up to you how long or short a stay is best suited for your needs but we think this gives travelers flexibility without being overwhelming or stressful—and it has enough time available so that even if something unexpected happens during their stay (like visa issues), they still have options open up until their departure date.
