We spent a week in Playa Langosta in Panama, and we loved it! We stayed at an Airbnb right on the beach, and we were so close that our next-door neighbor had his kayak tied up right in front of our house. We took advantage of this by going kayaking every single day! The water was warm and clear and there were tons of fish swimming around us. There are also sea turtles that come up on the beach at night; they lay their eggs here every summer so you’ll see them laying eggs soon!

“One of our favorite parts about Playa Langosta was kayaking. We went every day, and we brought the kids along with us. There are lots of fish and sea turtles to see, and it gets pretty deep very quickly in some places so be careful! You can stop anywhere you want on the beach or head out a little ways into the water if you feel like exercising your arms and legs.”

Langosta beach
Langosta beach, just north of Playa Venao, is one of the most popular beaches in Panama. It’s long and clean with no rocks or coral. There are several restaurants and hotels located within walking distance from the beach. The water is warm enough to walk into for miles at a time!
The water is warm and you can walk into it for miles.
When you swim at Playa Langosta, you will notice that the water is warm in the summer. The water is calm and clear and there are no waves. The sand on this beach is soft, so it’s easy to walk into the water for miles.
As you swim towards the horizon, you’ll notice that there are many other beaches around Playa Langosta. You can easily walk to these beaches by using one of the trails that lead from Playa Langosta. The first beach is Playa Esterillos Oeste and the second beach is Bahia de Las Aguilas or one of my best is Starfish beach.
The beach is lined with soooo many palm trees, I lost count!
Playa Langosta is a gorgeous beach with plenty of palm trees, white sand and warm water. I was so impressed by this beach that I couldn’t stop taking pictures! The water is shallow for quite a ways so kids can have fun walking around in it as well. There are also several hotels and restaurants along the beach which makes it convenient if you’re looking for some food or drinks during your visit.
There are a few hotels and restaurants in the area.
The restaurants aren’t fancy, but they do serve some good chow. The beach is lined with soooo many palm trees, I lost count!
The beach is also lined with restaurants and shops. There is a long wooden pier that extends out over the water, which makes for some great picture taking opportunities. There are plenty of umbrellas and lounge chairs to use if you don’t want to bring your own. The sand is fine and soft, making it easy on bare feet. Same like on Playa La Barqueta.
Although the restaurants aren’t fancy, they do serve some good chow.
- Playa Langosta’s restaurants are not fancy, but the food is good.
- The food is reasonably priced and very cheap for Panama.
- The food is good but not great.
- You can get some great deals on drinks, especially beer and sodas at the beach bar!
Picnic area at Playa Langosta
Playa Langosta has a picnic area where you can enjoy the beach and water. The picnic area is located a short walk from the beach, but it is close enough to hear the waves crashing in. There are several tables with benches so that you can sit comfortably while eating, and there are also bathrooms near by.
The picnic area is also a great place to enjoy the sunset, as it overlooks the ocean and there is plenty of space for people to sit down. You will also find several walking trails within the park that lead you through different landscapes and areas. The trails are very easy to follow, and they are well marked with signs so that you can easily find your way back if need be. More info you can get on Google review.
At night there are raccoons everywhere eating out of people’s trash cans.
Raccoons are not dangerous but they can be annoying. They’re cute and smart, but they do get rabies sometimes so you have to be careful if you see one outside your apartment or hotel room at night. If a raccoon is acting strangely or has red eyes, call the authorities immediately and stay away from it until then.
There are so many of them that you have to be careful not to step on their tails as they run away! It’s a little creepy at first but you get used to it!
The raccoons are everywhere. And, in case you didn’t know this about raccoons, they will eat your food if you leave it out. They can also be a little creepy, because they’ll come right up to you without fear and peer into your eyes with theirs (which look like human eyes) before running away. To make matters worse, the town only sells raccoon repellent at one store: the pharmacy!

The next day we went to Manuel Antonio park which is about 30 minutes away from Langosta by car.
This park is a great place to go if you like nature and want to see animals, but don’t want to do too much hiking or swimming. In the morning we did a bird watching tour where we learned about all of the different birds in Panama, saw some monkeys and a sloth! After this tour we did some hiking in the forested area surrounding the beach at Playa Langosta Resort. We then took a break when we got back from our hike at Buffet del Mar which has amazing food options for lunch!
Kayaking at Playa Langosta
If you’re looking for a fun way to enjoy the beach and get some exercise, kayaking is the perfect choice. You can go solo or with friends, and there are several options depending on your budget. There are a few places in Bocas where you can rent kayaks:
- At Playa Langosta’s public beach
- At your hotel if it has an on-site restaurant or bar
At the nearby Bocas Marina (which also offers scuba diving and other water sports) At one of the many private beaches on Isla Colon
Conclusion
I hope that you enjoyed this review of Playa Langosta and maybe even learned something new. If you are looking for a nice place to stay while visiting Panama City, then I would recommend checking out the Ancona Hotel. It’s in a great location with lots of restaurants nearby!
