FAQ
How far is it from Galle?
Hiriketiya Beach is about 30km south of the city of Galle. It’s a little under an hour drive to get there if you’re taking the main coastal road through Weligama, but you can also take a more roundabout route that takes in some beautiful scenery and villages along the way.
Where is the nearest airport?
The nearest airport is at Colombo which has flights to/from many destinations around Asia and Europe as well as Australia/New Zealand. If you want to avoid flying into Colombo then another option would be using Trinco International Airport which serves nearby Trincomalee town (about 2 hours drive away). The third option would be Batticaloa Airport which serves eastern Sri Lanka; however this airport only handles domestic flights so international travellers will need to fly into either Colombo or Trinco International Airports first before continuing on by land transport elsewhere in Sri Lanka

Hiriketiya Beach been a secret surfers paradise
Hiriketiya Beach has been a secret surfers paradise for decades. The small bay on the southern coast of Sri Lanka is about 5km away from Dikwella town, and it’s been known to have some pretty rough waves during high tide. The beach itself is quite beautiful with soft white sand that stretches out into clear waters where you can see coral reefs beneath your feet! Is very similar to Talalla Beach.
Surf breaks
Surf breaks are located in the south of Hiriketiya Beach and divided into two sides: left and right. The waves are not very big but they’re good for beginners. The water is clean and clear, so you can enjoy swimming while waiting for your turn at surfing!
Surfing schools
Surfing schools are available on the beach, and they’re safe. You can learn to surf in a day or two. The instructors are friendly and will help you stand up on your board, but they don’t push you too hard if you’re not ready to jump in right away.
Guest house for surffers
50 years ago, there were only a couple of very basic guest houses on the beach, so it was quiet and undeveloped. The beach itself was not as popular as it is today.
Nowadays, there are a lot of good hotels and restaurants on the beach, and it is one of the most popular destinations for both locals and tourists. It’s not just about swimming in the sea and laying under an umbrella anymore; you can also go jet skiing or parasailing. Or you can try Goyambokka Beach for accomodation.
There are many things to do on the beach, and it is easy to spend a whole day there without getting bored. You can also go hiking in one of the nearby mountains or just look around at the beautiful landscape.
Today there are no guest houses left at all
Hiriketiya Beach is a beautiful little beach on Sri Lanka’s Southern Coast. It’s become a popular tourist destination, and there are no guest houses left at all.
The waves at Hiriketiya Beach can get powerful, so it’s not ideal for beginners or children. But if you’re an experienced surfer looking for some good waves, this is the place to be!
It has got busier and busier but still retains its charm
The beach is beautiful with golden sand and clear water that makes it perfect for snorkeling and swimming. You’ll see people sunbathing or playing volleyball on the sand here, but if you want privacy you can go down to the rocks at either end of the beach where there are no crowds at all (and some great spots for surfing).
A must visit for surfers and nature lovers. The sand is white, the waves are decent, and there’s a nice place to chill out on the beach with some food or drink.
Luchee bar at Hiriketiya Beach
The Luchee bar is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. It is run by a friendly local family, who serve great food and drinks. The bar is open from 8am to 8pm, so you can enjoy breakfast in the morning, lunch with friends or dinner on your own. They also have hammocks available for hire if you want to spend some time relaxing in one of these instead of sitting at one of their tables or chairs!
The bar also has a pool table available for anyone who would like to play a quick game while they’re there. There are plenty of seats and tables, so you will never struggle to find somewhere to sit with your friends or family.
Yoga at Hiriketiya Beach
Yoga is a great way to relax and exercise. There are many different yoga styles, but I usually just practice the basics: breathing exercises, meditation, some stretching and strengthening exercises.
Yoga can help you get in touch with your body and mind so that they work together in harmony. This helps reduce stress and anxiety which can be caused by busy lifestyles or working too much on computers all day long! It also increases flexibility which means you’ll be able to move more easily through life’s challenges! More info you can get on Google review.
Conclusion
So, if you’re looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind, Hiriketiya Beach is the perfect destination. It’s not too crowded and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. You can also enjoy the delicious food at Luchee bar or take some yoga classes at one of the local schools nearby!
